Jeremiah 23: 1-40, 24: 1-10, 27: 12-22, 29: 1-19
Faithful shepherds rebuked...Who to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture! This is the Lord's declaration.
Therefore, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says about the shepherds who shepherd My people. You have scattered My flock, banished them, and have not attended to them. I will attend to you because of your evil acts - the Lord's declaration. I will gather the remnant of My flock from all the lands where I have banished them, and I will return them to their grazing land. They will become fruitful and numerous. I will raise up shepherds over them who will shepherd them. They will o longer be afraid or dismayed, nor will any be missing.
This is the Lord's declaration.
Israel's future restoration. The Lord is Our Righteousness. The days are coming the Lord's declaration - when it will no longer be said: As the Lord lives who brought the Israelites from the land of Egypt, but As the Lord lives, who brought and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from all the other countries where I had banished them. They will dwell once more in their own land.
Message to prophet To stop lying that they are prophesying in the Lords name when it's not from the Lord.
The Lord's burden
Two baskets of figs Good figs and bad figs - explaining that good figs are like people who do what is right in the Lords sight and the bad figs are those who do what is evil in the Lord's sight.
Jeremiah's advice to Zedekiah This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel says about the articles that remain in the temple of the Lord, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem; They will be brought to Babylon and will remain there until I attend to them again. This is the Lord's declaration. Then I will bring them up and restore them to this place.
Jeremiah's letter to the exiles For this is what the Lord says. For i know the plans I have for you - this is the Lord's declaration - plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I wail listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you - The Lord's declaration - and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and places where I banished you - The Lord's declaration. I will restore you to the place I deported you from.
Message to those who remained. Because you have refused to obey the Lord this is what the Lord will do "I will send against them sword, famine, and plague and will make them like rotten figs that are inedible because they are so bad. I will pursue them with sword, famine and plague.
Blessings

Jeremiah's prayer Hear me, Lord and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for You are my praise.
The Sabbath If you do not listen to Me to consecrate the Sabbath day by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, I will set fire to its gates, and it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem and not be extinguished.
The sign of the potter's vessel The word of the Lord came to me House of Israel, can I not treat you as this potter treats his clay? This is the Lord's declaration. Just like clay in the potter's hand so are you in My hand, house of Israel.
The people's rejection I will scatter them before the enemy like the east wind. I will show them My back and not My face on the day of their calamity.
A plot against Jeremiah The certain ones said
Come let's make plans against Jeremiah, for the law will never be lost from the priest, or counsel Fromm he wise, or an oracle from the prophet. Come let's denounce him and pay no attention to all his words.
The broken jug Then you are to shatter the just in the presence of the people traveling with you, and you are to proclaim to them...This is what the Lord of Hosts says. I will shatter these people and this city, like one shatters a potter's jar that can never again be mended.
Jeremiah's conflict with Pashhur Jeremiah came back from Topheth, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy, stood in the courtyard oft he Lord's temple, and proclaimed to all the people
This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says; I am about to bring on this city - and on all its dependent villages 0 all the disaster that I spoke against it, for they have become obstinate, not obeying My words.
Then Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer and chief officer in the house of the Lord heard Jeremiah prophesying these things. So Pashhur had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put him the stocks at the Upper Benjamin Gate in the Lord's temple. The next day Jeremiah said to him The Lord does not call you Pashhur, but Magormissabib, for this is what the Lord says. I am about to make you a terror to both yourself and those you love. and will fall by the sword. as for you Pashhur, and all who live in your house, you will go into captivity. You will go to Babylon. There you will die, and there you will be buried, you and all your friends that you prophesied falsely to..

216 - Punishment for sin
Kathleen's thoughts
Jeremiah 14: 13-22, 15: 1-21, 16: 1-21, 17: 1-13
False prophets...But the Lord said to me, These prophets are prophesying a lie in My name. I did not send them nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a false vision, worthless divination, the deceit of their own minds.
The Peoples plea.. Remember your covenant with us; do not break it. Are You not the Lord our God/ We therefore put our hope in You, for You have done all these things.
The destruction of the wicked The Lord said...Send them from my presence, and let them go. If they ask you; Where will we go/ You must tell them; This is what the Lord says;
Those destined for death, to death;
Those destined for the sword, to the sword.
Those destined for famine, to famine;
Those destined for captivity, to captivity.
Jeremiah's complaint Woe is me, my mother, that you gave birth to me, a man who incites dispute and conflict in all the land. I did not led or borrow, yet everyone curses me.
The Lord said;
Assuredly, I will set you free and care for you. Assuredly, I will intercede for you in a time of trouble, in your time of distress, with the enemy.
The Lord's reply (Love this) Therefore, this is what the Lord says;
If you return, I will restore you; you will stand in My presence.
And if you speak noble words, rather than worthless ones, you will be My spokesman.
It is they who must return to you; you must not return to them.
Then I will make you a fortified wall of bronze to this people.
They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you,To save you and deliver you.
This is the Lords declaration.
I will deliver you from the power of evil people and redeem you from the control of the ruthless.
The Lord's will for Jeremiah The word of the Lord came to me; You must not marry or have sons or daughters in this place. For this is what the Lord says concerning sons and daughters born n this place as well as concerning the mothers who bear them and the fathers who father them in this land; They will die from deadly diseases They will not be mourned or buried but will be like manure on the face of the earth.
Return from exile prophesied Why has the Lord declared all this great disaster against us. What is our guilt? Then you will answer them. Because your fathers abandoned Me; the Lord's declaration - and followed other gods and worshipped them.
However, take note! The days are coming - the Lord's declaration when it will no longer be said; As the Lord lives who brought the Israelites from the land of Egypt, but rather; As the Lord lives who brought the Israelites from the land of the north and from all the other lands where He had banished them. For I will return them to their land that I gave to their ancestors.
The coming punishment I will first repay them double for their guilt and sin because they have polluted My land. They have filled My inheritance with the lifelessness of their detestable and abhorrent idols.
Jeremiah's prayer For these people.
The sin and punishment of Judah You will, of yourself, relinquish your inheritance that I gave you. I will make you serve your enemies in a land you do not know for you have set My anger on fire; it will burn forever
This is what the Lord says;
Cursed is the man who trusts in man kind, who makes human flesh his strength and turns his heart from the Lord.
He will be like a juniper in the Arabah; he cannot see when good comes but dwells in the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land where no one lives
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is the Lord.
He will be like a tree planted by water;
it sends its roots out toward a stream,
it doesn't fear when heat comes, and its foliage remains Green.
It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit.
The heart is more deceitful than anything else and desperately sick - who can understand it?
I the Lord, examine the mind, I test the heart to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve.
He who makes a fortune unjustly is like a partridge that hatches eggs it didn't lay
In the middle of his days his riches will abandon him, so in the end he will be a fool
A throne of glory on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary,
Lord, the hope of Israel all who abandon You will be put to shame.
All who turn away from Me will be written in the dirt, for they have abandoned the fountain of living water the Lord.
Psalm 51;10 God create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

215 - The sign of the linen girdle
Kathleen's thoughts
Daniel 2: 36-49
Jeremiah 36: 10-32, 13: 1- 27, 14: 1-12
Daniels interpretation And so Daniel interprets the kings dream,.,.
1. The God of heaven has given you sovereignty, power strength and glory. Wherever people live or wild animals, or birds of the air - He has handed them over to you and made you ruler over them all. You are the head of GOLD.
2. After you there will arise another kingdom, inferior to yours, and then another ,
a third kingdom, of bronze, which will rule the whole earth.
A Fourth kingdom will be as strong as iron; for iron crushes and shatters everything and like iron that smashes, it will crush and smash all the others.
You saw the feet and toes, partly of a potter's fired clay and partly of iron - it will be divided kingdom, though some of the strength of iron will be in it.
You saw the iron mixed with clay, and that the toes of the feet were part iron and part fired clay-
part of the kingdom will be strong, and part will be brittle.
You saw the iron mixed with clay - the peoples will mix with one another but will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with fired clay.
In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, and this kingdom will not be left to another people. It will crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself endure forever.
you saw a stone break off from the mountain without a hand touching it, and it crushed the iron bronze, fired clay, silver, and gold.
The great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation certain.
The king rewards Daniel. By promoting by giving him many generous gifts. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.
At Daniels request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to manage the province of Babylon.
Bur Daniel remained at the kings court.

Take the underwear that you bought and are wearing and go at once to the Euphrates River and hide it in a rocky crevice.
A long time later the Lord said to me
Go at once to the Euphrates and get the underwear. this he did and it was ruined - of no use whatsoever.
Then the Word of the Lord came to me;
This is what the Lord says; Just like this I will ruin the great pride of both Judah and Jerusalem.
These evil people who refuse to listen to Me, who walk in the stubbornness of their own hearts, and who have followed other gods to serve and worship - they will be like this underwear, of no use whatsoever.

Nebuchadnezzar's conquests... Now the king of Egypt did not march out of his land again, for the king of Babylon took everything that belonged to the king of Egypt, from the Brook of Egypt to the Euphrates River.

Nebuchadnezzar's dream In the second year of his reign he had dreams that troubled him and sleep deserted him. He asked the Chaldean and the spoke to the king "May the king live forever. Tell your servants the dream and we will give the interpretation. But these men failed to interpret the dream, because of this the king became violently angry and gave orders to destroy the wise men of Babylon. The decree was issued that the wise men were to be executed, and they searched for Daniel and his friends, to execute them.
The dream revealed to Daniel Daniel asked the Arioch, the king's officer Why is the decree from the king so harsh? So he told Daniel why and about the kings dream. So Daniel went and asked the king to give him some time, so that he could give the king the interpretation.
Daniel spoke with his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah about the matter urging them to ask the God of heaven for mercy concerning this mystery.
The mystery was then revealed to Daniel in a vision at night. And Daniel praised the God of heaven and declared;
Daniel praise God.
May the name of God be praised forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him.
He changes the times and seasons;
He removes kings and establishes kings.
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.
He reveals the deep and hidden things;
He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him
I offer thanks and praise to You, God of my fathers,
because You have given me wisdom and power,
And now You have let me know what we asked of You, for You have let us know the king's mystery.
So Daniel went to Arioch and told him not to destroy the wise men as he can interpret the dream for the king.
Daniel went before the king and the king asked him "Are you able to tell me the dream I had and its interpretation. and Daniel answered the king; No wise man, medium, diviner[priest, or astrologer is able to make known to the king the mystery he asked about. But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has let King Nebuchadnezzar know what will happen in the last days.
And so Daniel reveals the interpretation
My King, as you were watching a colossal statue appeared. That statue, tall and dazzling, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was terrifying. The head of the statue was pure gold, its chest and arms were silver, it's stomach and thighs were bronze, its legs were iron, and its feet were partly iron and partly fired clay. As you were watching a stone broke off without a hand touching it, struck the statue on its feet of iron and fired clay, and crushed them. Then the iron , the fired clay, the bronze,the silver, and the gold were shattered and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors. The wind carried them away and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
