The exiles' arrival at the Temple
Nehemiah checks the family records Then my God put it into my mind to assemble the nobles, the officials, and the people to be registered by genealogy.
I found the genealogical record of those who came back first, and I found the following written in it.
These are the people of the province who went up from among the captive exiles deported by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Each of them returned to his own town in Jerusalem and Judah. They came with Zerubbabel, Jeshus, Nehemiah, Azariah, Taamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Blishan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, and Baanah.
The number of the Israelite men included:

List of priests and Levites In the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, the leaders of the families of the Levites and priests were recorded while Darius the Persian ruled. Levi's descendants, the leaders of families, were recorded in the Book of the Historical Records during the days of Johanan son of Eliashib.
Assignment of duties. Theleaders of the Levites - Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua son of Kadmiel, along with their relatives opposite them gave praise and thanks, division by division, as David the man of God had prescribed. This includeed Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, and Obadiah. Meshullam, Taimon, and Akkub were gatekeepers who guarded the storerooms at the gates.
These served in the days of Joiakim son of Jesua son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor and Ezra the priest and scribe.
FOR THOUGHT AND CONTEMPLATION
Nehemiah made certain that all who came to live in Jerusalem were there by divine right - hence the painstaking procedure of checking every name . How will it be with you when the time comes for you to enter the New Jerusalem?. Is your name written there?.
Don't rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:20
Blessings
Kathleen.
