156 - Set your heart to seek His desire.

Hello All :o)

I am back from my merry travels over in South Africa and looking forward to blogging my way through the word with my Mom again!  I don't want to flood you notices with over sixty entries so I have decided from next week to post my daily post and one from my trip study.

The Arrogance of Rehoboam

Chareen's Thoughts today:

• And after them out of all the tribes of Israel there came to Jerusalem those who set their hearts to seek and inquire of the Lord, the God of Israel, to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their fathers. So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and upheld Rehoboam son of Solomon for three years; for they walked in the ways of David and Solomon for three years. 2 Chronicles 11:16-17
• 1 Kings 13:11-32 The cost of disobedience is very high.  For this prophet of the LORD it cost him his life. The LORD instructed him not to eat bread or drink water but he listened to another prophet and reasoned to himself instead of obeying the LORD!
• Gosh Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 concubines! After the Lord had established him he abandoned the law of the LORD - and all of Israel with him.
• 2 Chronicles 12:14 And he did evil because he did not set his heart to seek (inquire of, yearn for) the Lord with all his desire. To not enquire of the Lord with our whole heart is considered doing evil.
• 1 Kings 14:22-24 And Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, Whom they provoked to jealousy with the sins they committed, above all that their fathers had done.
• Because of their unfaithfulness to the LORD, the King of Egypt went to war against them and captured the fortified cities of Judah as far as Jerusalem.
• Due to the sin of being unrepentant and worshiping idols the LORD wiped out and annihilated the house of Jeroboam.
• The Lord prophesied the death and destruction of the house of Jeroboam to his wife.
• There was war between Jeroboam and Rehoboam throughout their reigns.
• Rehoboam died and was buried in the city of David and his son Abijah became king in his place.

To not enquire of the Lord with our whole heart is considered doing evil. those who set their hearts to seek and inquire of the Lord, the God of Israel, to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their fathers. So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah  2 Chronicles 11:16-17 
  I found these two verses spoke to me today.   It's about seeking Him and enquiring of Him His will, this will strengthen us.

155 - The divided kingdom 945-721 B

1 Kings 12: 1-33, 13: 1-10

Jeroboam...When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come back, they summoned him to assembly and made him king over all Israel. No one followed the house of David except the tribe of Judah alone

King Rehoboam established his royal power in Jerusalem. Rehoboam was 41 years old when he became king; he reigned 17 years in Jerusalem, the city the Lord had chosen from all the tribes of Israel to put His name. Rehoboams's mother's name was Naamah the Ammonite.

People are led into sin by Jeroboam by building 2 gold calves he also built shrines on the high places and set up priests from every class of people who were not Levites.
2 Chronicles 11:1i5 Jeroboam appointed his own priests for the high places, the goat demons, and the gold calves he had made.

Rehoboam  is warned.

Prophecy concerning the altar at Bethal.
A man of God came from Judah to Bethel by a revelation from the Lord while Jeroboam was standing beside the altar to burn incense.
The man of God cried out altar, altar this is what the Lord says, A son will be born to the house of David, named Josiah, and he will sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who are burning incense on you, Human bones will be burned on you.: he gave a sign that day. He said, this is the sign that the Lord has spoken The altar will now be ripped apart, and the ashes that are on it will be spilled.
When the king heard the word that the man of God had cried out against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar and said arrest him. But the hand of Jeroboam withered and could not pull it back.
Then Jeroboam pleaded with the man of God for favour of the Lord and the his arm was restored back to what it was. The Jeroboam declared tot he man of God "come home with me refresh yourself and I'll give you a reward. but the man of God declined as the Lord had told him not eat bread or drink water or go back the way you came.

Summary
All Israel was registered in the genealogies that are written about the Book of the Kings of Israel. But Judah was exiled to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.

Home coming

Dear friends,
A update on Chareen and her family.
They arrived home last night after a long flight from South Africa via Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
Her dear friends were at the airport to greet them and all was so excited of their return. We all sure missed them and glad to have them back home.
I'm sure she will update you all with her many travels which you will find on Every bed of roses. A sight where she shares home schooling and many other activities.

I love ancestry I have tracked my family quite far back and the wonderful stories that have been gathered along the way passed down from generation to generation is a journey of excitement when lost ones are found on the family tree and it all gets put together through the word of God. God is the author of our lives "I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. Jer: 1: 5. I have seen up to now that God is a God of order and not confusion. His Genealogy from the beginning is just amazing. Everything is jotted down as a reminder of who and where we all come from.  He has made every thing beautiful in its time: also he has put eternity in men's hearts, so that no man can find out the work that God does from the beginning to the end.

And so we now start a new section in God's word

Eccl. 12:  1 &12 So remember your Creator in the days of your youth...But beyond these, my son, be warned; there is no end to the making of many books, and much study wearies the body. When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is; fear God and keep His commands, because this is for all humanity. For God will bring every act to judgement, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil.

1 Kings 11: 41-43 The rest of the events of Solomon's reign, along with all his accomplishments and his wisdom, are written about in the book of Solomon's events. The length of Solomon's reign in Jerusalem over all Israel totaled 40 years. Solomon rest with his fathers and was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam became king in his place.

For thought and contemplation...If wealth and honour alone could satisfy the soul, then Solomon would have known complete fulfilment. His disappointment can be summed up in the words. "I have seen all...under the sun and have found everything to be futile... Eccl 1:14. True joy is found not  Under the sun but above the sun in God's eternal presence.

151 - Ecclesiastes and the thoughts about life.

Reading theses scriptures today astounds me. Solomon's emotions and state of mind must have been extremely low. He does not seem to find anything right with life weather wicked or righteous and yet his wisdom prevails through it all. It's hard to put this reading to paper but I will leave this with you today that Wisdom makes the wise man stronger than ten rulers of a city. and there is certainly no righteous man on the earth who does good and never sins. chapter 7: 19-20.
Wisdom is better than weapons of war but one sinner can destroy much good. 9: 18.


Psalm 7: 9019 Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous. The one who examines the thoughts and emotions is a righteous God. My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.
