63 - Vengeance is mine saith the Lord!

Kathleen's thoughts

God will always look after the Israelites. One can see this here as God speaks to Moses in what he needs to do to protect His chosen and then the promise afterwards that God will take him home to his people. Imagine knowing that after the war you going home to be with the Lord.

1000 men from each tribe had to be brought forward to fight the war against the Midianites and They went with Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, in whose care were the holy objects and signal trumpets, and that day they killed every male and along with them were the Midianite kings - Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.
When the soldiers returned bringing with them the woman and yet they are the ones who incited the Israelites to unfaithfulness against the Lord in Peor. Moses became angry and instructed them to kill all the male children and kill every woman who had sexual relations with a man and keep alive for yourselves all the young females who have not had sexual relations.

When the officers took the census of the army they were all accounted for. How awesome is that?

Reuben and Gad request their inheritance - I guess they ran out of patience and decided they liked where they were and decided to settle on the other side of Milk and Honey the land that the Lord wants to give to the Israelites.

What would you choose?

But before they could do this they had to promise Moses "The Gadites and Reubenites answered Moses, Your servants will do just as my lord commands. Our little children, wives, livestock, and all our animals will remain here in the cities of Gilead, but your servants are equipped for war before the Lord and will go across to the battle as my lord orders"

Blessings
