23 – Joseph meets his brothers during the famine.

Kathleen’s thoughts
Genesis 41 -43
Pharaoh gives Joseph a wife, Asenath daughter of Potiphera and she bore him 2 sons... First born Manasseh, meaning, God has made me forget all my hardship in my father’s house” the Second born he named Ephraim, meaning, “God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction”
The Pharaoh’s dreams become a reality. Fruitful harvest and stored in the cities then followed the famine in the country.
Joseph meets his brothers through this famine and the brothers do not recognize their brother Joseph. Joseph supplies their needs with requests of them to bring Benjamin with them and his father is very sad but in the end relents to the request in order to get food for his household.
I can’t imagine what Joseph felt when he saw his brothers after all those years and this was caused through Jealousy and self-centeredness. This is a lesson for us in this reading that when we act badly many people get hurt in the process and it can take years of sadness before healing takes place. Let the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable to the Lord and let us walk in integrity and respect for each other and most of all with love in our hearts.
Blessings
Kathleen.
